Pre-China Thoughts

The clock just hit 11:37 PM, and I have been non-stop busy the entire day in order to get ready for what is about to be the most intense, eye-opening experience that I have had the opportunity to take part in.  Tomorrow, I will be headed to the amazing country of China, or what the Chinese call Zhong Guo, which has a literal translation of "Middle Kingdom".  While the middle kingdom is supposed to represent a balanced and integrated life and worldview,  I will find out tomorrow what this place called Zhong Guo is all about.

Before this long journey begins, I must think back on how much time and effort this trip actually took to prepare for.  I have put in more time to prepare for this trip than I ever would have thought.  I won't talk about all of the details, but I'll just leave it at this--If I knew it was going to take me this much to get where I am now, I probably would have thought longer about going on this trip!  Time constraints were the main problems, but I am so glad that I made it through everything that needed to be done in order to get this life-changing experience in place.

I will be leaving my place in Clemson around 5:30 AM to catch a flight at 8:00.  I hear it takes a lot longer to board the plane when you are flying internationally.  Makes sense.  Okay, so we leave at 8:00 in the morning, arrive in chicago around 10:00, and do not get into Shanghai until....2:00 in the afternoon on Sunday!  It will be really cool to travel with the sun for a day.  Once tomorrow morning hits (Saturday Morning), I won't see the sun until Sunday night (at least I think).  I am really excited about this, but should probably get some sleep on the plane.  My grandpa told me that I will be able to read the Bible twice on the plane ride...I'm up for the challenge ha.

I am about to go to bed because this day has my brain completely worn out.  I will say that I am extremely, extremely excited about tomorrow.  I can't really explain the feeling, except for that I know my eyes are about to be opened to the world.  My life of world travel begins tomorrow, and it has already been more fulfilling than I expected.  Thanks to all of the people that helped me make this trip happen.  I will be giving thanks everyday for all of you.  My life is about to get crazy!  China, here I come!
